While there’s been a copious amount of speculation regarding which direction Texas will go at defensive coordinator, there’s been little, comparatively, when it comes to the coordinator on the other side of the ball.
Current assistant Major Applewhite‘s name has been on the radar since Greg Davis “stepped down” earlier this month. Boise State coordinator Bryan Harsin has been connected to the vacancy as well, as has UCLA’s Norm Chow.
Now comes word of another name that might be on Mack Brown’s radar.
According to a tweet from Rivals.com‘s Tom Dienhart, Wisconsin coordinator Paul Chryst may be emerging as a candidate for the UT job. That information actual meshes well with rumblings we’ve heard connecting that name to that job.
Chryst is in his sixth year as an assistant at the school, the last five spent as coordinator. He’s also spent time as, among others, Oregon State’s coordinator and an assistant with the San Diego Chargers.
The Badgers were fourth in the country in points per game at 43.3, thanks in large part to a rushing attack that ranked 12th in rushing yards per game.
