I have been mentioning the chance of this happening for many months … Mack Brown might go “down with his ship” or “down and out”. Don’t get me wrong, because I want Mack Brown to stay at Texas. I think Mack Brown possibly leaving is gaining some momentum, because all of Mack’s 20+ year coaches/friends are all gone from the staff (Greg Davis, Cleve Bryant, McWhorter, Mad Dog, etc). This accumulated with hearing today Lee Corso is leaving ESPN and that would leave a HUGE job opening. Colin Cowherd called this opening, the best job in College Football today (city, schools, traditions, lifestyle, etc). What if ESPN came to Mack Brown and offered him the same money he was making at UT as Head Coach, but he would not have the stress as Head Coach and only work a couple of days a week? Hhhhhmmmmmm! Dream job for Mack? As of today, I am thinking the idea that Mack Brown could be leaving UT, has increased from 10% to 25%. Still a low percentage, but gaining steam.
This would open another can of worms … would Will Muschamp be guaranteed the Head Coaching position as the HCIW (head coach in waiting), because I would imagine many of top 20 head coaches would put their name in the pot? Would you rather have Will Muschamp or possibly the Head Coach from Boise St, TCU, Oregon … what about Urban Meyer (retired)? Interesting! Hook’em! Randy
