The 2011 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, which is selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, has Texas closer Corey Knebel as its National Freshman Pitcher of the Year. Knebel posted 17 saves, 3-2 record, 1.23 ERA, 57 strikeouts and 12 walks in 51 1/3 innings. Knebel was a first team Louisville Slugger All-American and a first team Big 12 Conference selection as well as a member of the All-Freshmen team in the league.
