During Kansas City Chiefs big loss by the Detroit Lions, running back Jamaal Charles (24 years old) went down awkwardly after crashing into Detroit’s mascot and had to be carted off of the field. He immediately clutched his knee in pain. Charles played for the University of Texas as a member of the Texas Longhorns in college.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Charles is expected to miss the rest of th2 2011 season, because of a torn ACL and is expected to miss the rest of the 2011 season. He’ll undergo an MRI Monday. The team is reportedly fearing for the worst.
In 2010, when he rushed for 1,467 yards and scored eight total touchdowns. The Chiefs will probably use a committee backfield approach, with Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster, Le’Ron McClain, and Jackie Battle splitting time. They will definitely miss Charles’ explosiveness and game-changing ability.
This injury could not have happened at a worse time … Kansas City has been outscored 89-10 in their first two contests.
