Texas has the most valuable NCAA Football program in the country, which is estimated in the range of $800 million. Mack Brown collects more than 5 million per year.
Mack Brown and his Texas Longhorns Football Team have been in steady decline with only 22 wins and 16 losses, since the Vince Young and Colt McCoy era, which includes only winning 11 out of 27 games in the Big 12 Conference. The University of Texas Athletics Program has top financial resources, top football recruiting classes (average this year), and some of the best facilities in the NCAA for all sports.
Texas has recruiting advantages over their rivals. The Longhorns coaching staff often state they “don’t recruit, they select”. Well, things must change, because going 22-16 in the last 3 years, while “selecting” their recruiting talent is not getting it done, especially with Texas being the grounds for the best recruiting talent in the country. Yes, football is religion in the state of Texas. So, it seems that Texas is getting beat by all the players who weren’t good enough to play at the University of Texas
At this point, the University of Texas Football Program is not getting a positive return on their investment with their football and basketball head coach. Mack Brown often positions himself as more of a CEO than a head coach. Well, the Texas program is starting to look like a bad stock, with investors ready to make some tough decisions. Questions about changes needs to be discusses immediately. Are you happy with our Athletic Director, Deloss Dodds? Football head coach, Mack Brown? Football recruiting? Basketball head coach, Rick Barnes? Basketball recruiting? So many questions to think about. It is time for Texas to have a leadership changes at many levels, before their program has declined to the point where they are taking leftovers from their closest rivals, like Texas A&M. For Longhorns fans … that hurts. Ouch!
